“Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.” -Abraham Lincoln
Whenever we get together, my brother Caleb and I usually play games and such. One of our favorite past times, however, is finding some of the best hiking trails and making a day of walking them. And when there is no trail, we usually make our own. While on these trails, we find the sturdiest of sticks to use as a staff to keep us balanced on the roughest of paths. It has saved us both from tumbling to our demise on several occasions. We also use our hiking sticks to check the path ahead of us, making sure we have a firm foundation upon which to trod.
It can be very easy to take the well-trodden path, hesitant to go off onto a new and uncertain path , fearful of stumbling onto a slippery slope or falling into quicksand. But God calls us to walk His paths by faith.
We do this by using the staff that our Heavenly Father has given us: The Holy Word of God.
It is as the apostle Paul states in 2 Corinthians 5:7,
“for we walk by faith, not by sight…”
Today, I encourage you to keep your eyes on the path ahead, unafraid of what the Lord has in store for your life.
